IntroductionI’m a native Texan, ancestors came here in 1835. Married to my college sweetheart, we have a daughter, 2 dogs, a cat, a pony & chickens. I’m involved in my church & in politics. I’m socially progressive & financially conservative. My beliefs come from deep core values, believing that everyone deserves equal opportunity, & when we deny basic human rights to anyone, we deny our own humanity. In the Bible it says we are to “DO justice, love mercy & walk humbly with our Lord.” I’m not good at it, but I try to follow this scripture. My ancestor, Stephen Williams, fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 & then the Siege of Bexar during the Texas War for Independence (when he was in his 70’s!) I’m a member of th DAR through Stephen’s ancestry. Member of the Cherokee Nation; ancestor was the last “Beloved Woman” of the Cherokee until the 1980’s. Native Americans say that you should look to the 7th generation as to how your decisions today will affect them. I think we would do well to follow that. Politics isn’t a spectator sport: we all need to be involved in making this a better world.
