A creative photographer, proud parent, and adoptive mom of an adorable retired greyhound, Joey also is an active member of KCNA’s Neighborhood Health Special Interest Group, advocating for the wellness of the county’s homeless population. A passionate and inventive cook, Joey holds strong personal identification with the issues of food insecurity. “I’ve known what it’s like to have to make a choice between paying the rent, staying warm, keeping the lights on, or eating. Taking the United Way Hunger Challenge will remind me in a personal way of what it means to limit choices while trying to sustain a healthy balanced diet. On seven dollars a day I know this won’t be easy. But for those with greatly limited incomes, it’s full-time reality.”
