Introduction I'd be working for NASA as an astronomer if I wasn't missing that part of my brain that deals with math. So instead I go to the Hawaiian Astronomical Society's monthly "Star Parties" where I can gaze thru their many high tech telescopes and marvel at the genius astronomers running them. Favorite Poem: When you are old and gray and full of sleep and nodding by the fire, take down this book and slowly read, and dream of the soft look your eyes had once and of their shadows deep. How many loved your moments of glad grace and loved your beauty with love false or true, but one man loved the pilgrim soul in you and loved the sorrows of your changing face. And bending down now beside the glowing bars, murmur, a little sadly, how love fled and paced upon the mountains overhead and hid his face amid a crowd of stars. ~William Butler Yeats
Interests Being in the ocean as much as humanly possible. Favorite Quotations: The only thing that remains the same is that everything changes... If we're the only living beings in the universe, it's an awful waste of space... There is nothing like lying flat on your back on the deck, alone except for the helmsman aft at the wheel, silence except for the lapping of the sea against the side of the ship. At that time you can be equal to Ulysses and brother to him. ~Errol Flynn... The ocean has always been a salve to my soul. I learned early on that the best thing for a cut or abrasion was to go swimming in salt water. Later down the road of life, I made the discovery that salt water was also good for the mental abrasions one inevitably acquires on land. ~ Jimmy Buffett
Favorite Movies Anything with Penelope Cruz. Favorite one of hers is "Volver" ("To Return"). She finally won her Oscar, so that contest isn't as much of a joke as I thought. Now give one to Samuel L. Jackson already, only slightly overdue.
