| Introduction | Phil Stern is in his tenth year as the head women's basketball coach at UMBC and his 16th season overall as a collegiate head coach. He led the Retrievers to the 2007 America East title and their first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. In 2011 he lead the Retrievers to their first regular season America East Championship, and subsequently the programs first WNIT appearance. For this he was voted America East Coach of the Year |
