Introduction Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, David Hagberg joined the Air Force right out of high school where he was trained as a cryptographer, stationed in Greenland above the Arctic Circle and in Germany where he helped construct the (then) largest crypto center on the planet. He attended the University of Maryland, Overseas Division, and the University of Wisconsin, studying mathematics, physics and philosophy. But he learned to write as a cub reporter on the Duluth Herald & and News-Tribune and later as a news desk editor for the Associated Press. His first novel,TWISTER, was published in 1975 by Dell, and since that time he has written more than 70 novels of suspense in a career that includes the nomination for The American Book Award, three nominations for the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allan Poe award and three Mystery Scene American Mystery awards. His papers are archived at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Interests International travel, sailing, competitive fencing, amateur radio, KC9RZ, amateur astronomy, gourmet cooking, woodworking, reading (of course)writing instruction and tutoring.
Favorite Movies The Wizard of Oz, all the Harry Potters, Blade Runner, Dune, Saving Private Ryan, The Hunt for Red October.
Favorite Music Classical(especially opera) and Country and Western which is the same as classical opera--great melodies and sappy love stories.
Favorite Books All the Harry Potters, all of John LeCarre and John Fowles--especially THE MAGUS, all of the older Tom Clancy and Stephen King and a lot of science fiction from the fifties--Andre Norton, Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asmiov, and Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald as well as Alastair MacClean and Nevile Chute (On the Beach)and these days Lee Child and Vince Flynn.
