Introduction Derrick Grose's career in school libraries began in 1980 when he was appointed Library Master in addition to his responsibilities as an English teacher at Ujoelen Grammar School, Ekpoma, Bendel State, Nigeria. After returning to Canada in 1981, he worked as a classroom teacher until 2001 when he was offered the chance to become a full-time teacher-librarian at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School and then at Lisgar Collegiate in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. He has worked as the editor of School Libraries in Canada and on the editorial board for Teaching Librarian.
