Introduction Veronica Slater is an artist from The Isle of Mull, Scotland who comes to KulttuuriKauppila with a Visual Arts Award from The Scottish Arts Council. She completed her BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, London and has an MA in Fine Art from the University of Northumbria, UK. Her work is in private and public collections and has been in prominent UK touring shows including ‘Along the Lines of Resistance’ and ‘The Borrowed lmage’. Veronica has also shown internationally including The Judith Anderson Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. Her work has been featured in two major books entitled Dammed Fine Art and Outlooks published by Cassell and Routledge. Artist's Residences have included James Cook University of North Queensland, Australia and Vermont Studio Center, USA. In 2007 she collaborated on a film documenting artists working towards the exhibition ‘Spent’ in London, a show in which she also participated. Her recent solo show CARAVAN at An Tobar on The Isle of Mull, Scotland was a huge success and led to a series of workshops and films on the island.
Interests Veronica Slater is also a freelance art educator who has taught and worked with all sectors of education in the UK and internationally in USA, NZ and Australia. She held a permanent post as Visual Arts Lecturer at The City Literary Institute, the foremost Adult Education College in London, for 17 years. During this time she had an exceptional record of achievement including groundbreaking initiatives that put into practice a world class model of education and cultural learning.
