| Introduction | I am a person dead-set to embrace life and be grateful for all opportunities and gifts I am given while encouraging others to do the same. I consider myself a student of psychology, people and life, a person passionate about education, a mother of three, a daughter of a mother who is living with me and moving through life with the unwelcomed partners of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia, and a trainer of dogs for service, obedience, and fun... My blogs are flavored with -- my personal and professional experiences -- knowledge I've gained through education and life -- the voice of my mother from yesterday and today -- my life with dogs and animals -- my travel as someone who was a military wife -- my love of nature -- the children who inspire me -- and so much more. I hope you will find valuable information, entertaining snippets or just a break from your reality within the posts and pages of my blogs. Enjoy, and make it a good day! |
| Interests | I train service dogs for children with life threatening allergies. I also incorporate my love of psychology, education, training/coaching, and canine assisted therapy and/or canine assisted teaching of skills to those who face challenges, physically, developmentally, emotionally, etc. I am a team member with a dog encouraging me to focus my pursuit on the building of social and professional skills in children and young adults who have autism. My first and foremost goal is to spread the value of the talents God has given each of us and the use of gratitude to inspire us to reach our fullest potential. I love to encourage curiosity and the love of reading through dramatic, interactive storytelling. |
| Favorite music | Music - it's all over the place! I love country music, but also love oldies, gospel, soul, some pop, new age (we're talking, Tibetan Singing Bowls and stuff for meditation!), "rock" from the 70-80's, showtunes, etc! Eclectic! Thanks to people I meet along the way, I discover new music and embrace it! |
| Favorite books | Life of Pi, by Yann Martel --- Beatrice and Virgil, by Martel --- everything written by Crichton -- Winterdance, by Gary Paulson (For young adults and adults alike - some language issues should prevent young readers from delving in without parental involvement! However, this is my "go to" book for anyone who has nothing to laugh about but needs to laugh for health sakes!) -- The Kingdom -- The Power -- The Glory -- Poisonwood Bible --I can go on... but let's talk kids' books... Hop On Pop, by Dr. Seuss -- Good Dog Carl series -- Skeeter (an oldie, and I can't find the author... as soon as I do, you'll know it too!) --- Hank the Cowdog series, by John R. Erickson --- Julie of the Wolves, Jean Craighead George --- and too many more to mention here!! Well, for now! |
