Introduction Hi. I am a gardening guru but my legal name is David Goforth. North Carolina Cooperative Extension Cabarrus County Center hired me in 1986 to teach Cabarrus County citizens about plants. I also grow peaches, blueberries and a few vegetables for sale at the local farmers market. I occasionally consult outside Cabarrus County. My diplomas from NC State University say Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Science and Master of Horticultural Science. My experience includes working for Warren Steed, Terry Graves, and Buddy Coulter all well known horticulturalists. I first worked for Warren in 1976 so I occasionally claim I have a “quarter center of experience”. That sounds more impressive than a mere 25 years of experience. On this site you can find discuss current issues affecting horticulture in Cabarrus County. You will find links to my news articles as well as back ground information on some of the articles and additional writing including some of my personal gardening experience. My interest includes local food production systems, ornamentals, weather, insects, plant diseases, environmental issues, urban forestry and more.
