Introduction Fire Chief LeRoy Smith is a veteran of more than 27 years in the fire service, including over 22 years with the Prince George's County Maryland Fire Department, the majority of that time in the Emergency Operations Command. Chief Smith served as a firefighter with Engine Company 8, and Rescue Company 8 in Seat Pleasant one of the busiest and most active companies in Prince George's County. Chief Smith rose through the ranks until he was subsequently promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in December of 2009 remaining in Emergency Operations as the D shift Countywide Tour Commander. His tenure as a fire officer included Commander of the Fire Rescue Training Academy, Commander of the Hazardous Materials Team, Deputy Emergency Management Director. Chief Smith retired from Prince George's County in 2011 to serve as Deputy Fire Chief of Operations, Training, and Safety of the Baltimore Washington International Airport Fire Department. Chief Smith held that position until 2012 when he was selected to become the Fire Chief of the Holly Springs Fire Rescue Department.
