Introduction | I first became aware of storytelling as an art form when I began working with Randal Gillen at Pontiac Branch of Allen County Public Library in June 1981. He was very involved in storytelling as a result of his work with children at the branch and encouraged me to try it. I was resistant at first, but after one trip to the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee in 1986, I was a convert. I have done most of my storytelling at libraries and schools over the past 20 years, but I enjoy telling at festivals and other special events. |
