IntroductionI have had a life-long and proactive interest in the dynamics of cultural evolution. Pursuing this interest has made for eclectic experience. During the past ten years my interest has focused on research relating to the part symbolic language, cognition, and the media play in cultural transformation. During this period, I have been a professor at Digipen Institute of Technology and have served as Chairman of the Humanities & Social Sciences Department. Early on, I Founded & directed the Center for Creative Communications--a non-profit corporation dedicated to an experiment in media impact on the unified field of psyche. The hope was to increase the efficiency and impact of a global humanitarian presence through information sharing, consensus, and the coordinated use of the global media. From 1979 to 1981, I served as Co-director/Planner for the Boulder County Department of Community Action Programs where I was responsible for the restructuring, planning, and management of this very complex Government Department.
InterestsMy research is based on an assertion that dream images and screen images constitute a dynamic-perceptual analog that allows for computational access and manipulation of archetypal patterns in individual and collective dimensions of psyche. The analog is based on a multidimensional common denominator—narrative structure—that operates as an affective transducer between unified fields of physics and psyche. I teach an array of classes that emphasize mythology, symbolism, and Jungian psychological dynamics of dream interpretation in order to train game-story writers to apply the principles to interactive narrative.
