Introduction	An avid animal lover, Melissa Chan, 22, is a senior at Adelphi University, where she double majors in Journalism and English. She has previously served as Editor-in-Chief of the university's student newspaper for two years. She has also spent three years so far helping her peers as a tutor at the university's Writing Center, where she launched the center's first newsletter in the spring semester of 2009. As for her off-campus journalism experience, Chan has recently served as an editorial intern for Newsday, where she contributed several articles, and reported on the scene for the Pulitzer Prize winning daily newspaper, which has a 1.4 million weekly cumulative audience on Long Island and New York City. She has also had the privilege of being a production assistant for News 12 Long Island, and an editorial intern for The Queens Courier. She is currently the only editorial intern for the Long Island Press and contributes to the Syosset Patch. On her free time, she loves to spoil her three-year-old Pomeranian Poodle.
