| Introduction | i am native so.californian (so.cal kicks ass! really, everybody should visit). i hold degrees in political science and philosophy,the major side effect being a tendency to think too much about everything. besides that, i'm trying to be a contented person, as my ability to keep hold of my happy thought is challenged daily. |
| Interests | i enjoy reading about postmodernism, positivism, poststructuralism, or any other defunct or descredited philosophic theory. when i'm amongst real people, i avoid philosophy as if it were ticking.that is, i don't like talking about philosophy like it's discussed in a classroom. I find it much more enjoyable to bring it out into the real world and see how it works -- like in movies or on TV. Which is, consequently, the point of this blog. |
| Favorite movies | The Wicker Man (the original, NOT the remake), zombie flicks (especially by George A. Romero), anything by John Waters, and a little- seen gem called "The Monster Club" (which is, unfortunately, no longer in print). and, "The Bad Seed". there is but a short jump on the continuum between Rhoda Penmark and Dawn Davenport. |
| Favorite music | disco (seriously), American industrial ( the european stuff is just too techno). I've been recently turned on to Leonard Cohen, and I really dig it so far... and, oops, I forgot to mention, I hate the Eagles. Seriously, I do. |
| Favorite books | Vonnegut, Orwell (my favorite philosophers), most stuff written by David Sedaris (there's some dry parts in Barrel Fever), and embarassingly, "Star Wars" books.George Lucas has got me so hooked on the continuing saga of people who don't exist. |
