About me

Introduction Kylie McDevitt started her career in technology by studying Engineering at ANU in the late 90s. She worked as a telecommunications engineer for Telstra before taking leave to have her children. In 2009, Kylie started working for the Australian Government, where she migrated her established networking skills into the cyber security realm. While working for Government, Kylie completed her Masters in Computer Networking and had the opportunity to attend many specialist industry training courses. Kylie is a founder of Australia’s largest hacker conference, BSides Canberra and has taught at BlackHat USA (Code Review 2020) and BlackHat Asia (Code Review 2021). She has spoken at many industry conferences, including being invited to give a keynote presentation at AISA Cyber Conference on Zerotrust networking in 2021. Kylie has also worked as a casual lecturer at the University of New South Wales, teaching Cyber Defence in the University’s Master of Cyber Security programs. After 12 years, Kylie resigned from the Australian Government to pursue her dreams of cyber security community growth and education through her own company, InfoSect.
