| Introduction | Chuck Nitzberg, (American b. 1953) is a New York based artist. Nitzberg's early training as a graphic designer and illustrator has informed his approach to drawing and painting. His use of disparate materials used together in non traditional ways reflects an attraction to beauty subverted. Influenced by the people and friends around him, and the many gay drawing groups he attends regularly, he creates a charged atmosphere for expression. Focusing on the male image in this type of setting provides a backdrop in which he can explore a combination of identification and objectification within himself. In this context he explores formal and objective concerns relating to gay empowerment within society today. |
