Introduction Jo Meguro, writer and translator, was born in Tokyo, Japan. Translated three Martin McDonagh’s plays, "The Beauty Queen of Leenane," "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" and "The Pillowman" (which won Yuasa Yoshiko Prize for Translation of Play in March 2005), for Japanese productions which were shown at the Parco Theater Tokyo. Other translations for theatre include Synge's "The Playboy of the Western World" and John Masteroff's musical "Cabaret". Translations of books include the script for Tim Burton's film, "Big Fish," and Polly Horvath's novels for young readers, "The Vacation" and "The Canning Season (winner of the 2003 U.S. National Book Award)." Authored three Japanese novels, "Sekaijinrui Ga Sexless De Arimasuyouni (May Sexless Marriages Prevail on Earth )," "Cult no Shima (Cult Island)," or a collection of shortstories, and "Menzaifu Ni (Pardoner)."
