| Introduction | I am 12 years old, trapped in a 58 year old body. I still look out through the same eyes I have since childhood. Occasionally I walk past a window or mirror and look at the person reflected back and ask, "is that me?” I have not lost my ability to enjoy the wonder of life, the shape of a cloud or just the sheer amazement that birds can fly. I can, when required, muster moments of responsibility. I have had the great fortune to have children, four boys, now all adults in their 30’s. One has blessed me and my wife with 2 incredibly beautiful grandchildren. My wife has been “grandma day care” since their birth. It is one of the most fulfilling experiences in my life, to be a part of the life of kids who view you as an adult “with impact in their lives” and not their parents. I am sure there will be some grandparent experience shared in this blog. I am one of the world’s luckiest men. I can honestly say that I am married to my best friend. It makes for great peace in my life and likely has a great deal to do with my perspective on things. That doesn’t mean I understand women any better than the rest of the males in the world. Only that I have made friends with one of them. |
