Introduction	I'm 51 1/2 years old and I have cystic fibrosis. I had a double lung transplant in April 2000. My donor was a precious girl from Iowa named Kari. Kari is the beautiful girl in the picture I'm holding. Before transplant, participating in athletic events would have been impossible. Since receiving my beautiful, new lungs, I leap tall buildings in a single bound. Well, hundreds of small bounds. I take my lungs up tall building stairclimbs in Chicago. My climbing teams are named "Kari's Klimbers". I climb in honor of, and in memory of the girl who saved my life. Being an organ donor was Kari's idea. In the month before she passed, shortly after her 17th birthday, she told her family twice how strongly she felt about organ donation. Her family was faced with a devastating decision, but she had helped them with that decision. In April, 2000, Kari brought her beautiful smile into my life when she and her family gave me both of her lungs. Please consider organ donation and tell your family how you feel, that's more important than signing your driver's license or donor card. I know a beautiful girl from Iowa who knew how she felt and told her family. I think about her every single day.
