| Introduction | AnansiStories have no age limits, so Michael Auld's focus is to inform the public about his shared multiethnic heritage through the visual arts and writing. He is a widely exhibited sculptor, printmaker, graphic designer, illustrator, and cartoonist whose other passion is his Jamaican AnansiStories (anansistories.com). His goal is also to introduce the reader to the less-covered Indigenous cultures of the Caribbean and the rest of the Americas. So, some of these blog stories invite the reader into the ancient philosophical world of the Caribbean. He and his Native American wife have worked the Eastern Woodland's powwow circuit for many years. Their works are on powhatanmuseum.com. |
| Interests | I am a Jamaican ex-pat, Visual Artist. author, and researcher in African and Amerindian cultures. I have exhibited my sculptures, installations, and prints widely. I work jointly with my Native American wife who is a fellow artist, author, and Algonquian storyteller on art projects which include public installations. |
| Favorite movies | The Harder They Come (Jamaican reggae themes), Serendipity (Romance movies), Purple Rain, Bollywood movies, and anything about the Indigenous people of the Americas. |
| Favorite music | Anything Bob Marley, Jimmy Clif, and reggae stars. Country ballads and old Rock & Roll are my favorites. |
| Favorite books | "1491", "They Came Before Columbus", my own "Ticky-Ticky's Quest", & "How Anansi Came to the Americas from Africa", "7 Secrets of Inspiration" by my son, Alexei, "The People Who Didn't Leave" stories by Native Americans of the Eastern Woodlands, "Cave of the Jagua", and more. |
