Introduction I'm obsessed with my family, my friends, MUSIC, crafting, blogging, dancing, optimism, trivia, the blues, and the color yellow.
Interests I love... my husband who has an annoyingly quick wit, entertaining and being entertained by my two beautiful boys, my overweight pingpong-fetching kid-loving black cat, my anxious extremely loyal long-haired chihuahua, my friends who would have my back until we are old ladies in a nursing home somewhere, MUSIC, 80's movies, being loud, laughing at myself, watching my babies sleep or eat or laugh or do nothing at all, taking photographs, scrapbooking, playing poker, unsweet ice tea, vietnamese food, trivia, Port Aransas sunsets, Big Bend sunrises, NPR, KTCU 88.7, when someone is brave enough to oppose my opinion when I am being overly assertive, my uncle Roberts taste in music, the blues, the color yellow, recycling, making things (ie: jewelry, Christmas bows, scrapbooks, 'artsy' type things), people who comment on my blogs, free association (haha) and being happy as much of the time as possible!!! If you can't tell I talk a LOT.
Favorite Movies Wes Anderson movies, 80's movies, LABYRINTH!!! Talking Heads -Stop Making Sense... **SAHARA QUOTE** [Dirk wants Al to pull a "Panama"] Rudi Gunn: What's a Panama? Al Giordino: It's a Navy thing. Rudi Gunn: I didn't know you were in Panama. Al Giordino: We weren't in Panama, we were in Nicaragua. Rudi Gunn: So why do you call it a Panama? Al Giordino: Because we thought we were in Panama! I like the way they play 'If You Leave' by OMD on a continuous 7-8 minute loop for the final scenes of Pretty in Pink... I mean, come on, the song isn't THAT awesome! I like movie trivia "The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool." - Almost Famous
Favorite Music I think trying to choose a favorite song or artist is like trying to choose which element you need most to survive. When I was in middle school my celebrity crushes were on Bono, Billy Idol, Robert Smith, and Mick Jagger. I can sing just about every U2 lyric from Pop back to Boy...very badly. I have Eric Claptons autograph. As a kid, I actually had the audacity to put an original Green Pyramid poster from the Dark Side of the Moon album on my wall...WITH THUMB TACS! I still wish I could dance with David Bowie in a crystal ball. That, or dance to the Fraggle Rock...as a Fraggle. The 6 CDS in my car right now: Saras Mixed CDS-Not Christmas Carols 2005, Not Christmas Carols 2007, The White Stripes-the White Stripes, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf-the London Sessions, Interpol-Turn on the Bright Lights, The Allman Brothers Band-my uncles mix. Bands that I hope never win a grammy (since the Grammys are just a big sham to promote what the music INDUSTRY is selling): Feist, Muse, Interpol. I want Van Morrison's - Into the Mystic to be played at my funeral. LISTEN TO COLLEGE RADIO! Or at the very least, check out THE MAGIC BULLETS! I like music trivia
Favorite Books 'Babywise' had both boys sleeping through the night @ 8 weeks...and now they get 11 hours at night + naps...my fav fiction is 'The Power of One'-Bryce Courtenay, anything offbeat like 'The Book of Useless Information'-Nathan Bonham, 'How Soon is Never'-Marc Spitz, and I have some gardening and identification books (like animal tracks, insects, snakes, butterflies, birds) Lathan's fav @ the moment is 'A Chair For My Mother.'
