| Introduction | It would be an impossible task to pay tribute to every person that has affected my life's path. Instead, I will focus on where each of these people and every experience has led me--here, today. I am a teacher; that is my life's purpose. Through writing, singing, giving workshops, and sharing opinions, I continue to explore and understand the concept of teaching making every day a new challenge and, consequently, a new success. My philosophy of life this day at the moment I write these words is that failure holds the next step to success which, in turn, can be reached only through one's perseverance and acceptance of personal mediocrity. Failure and mediocrity are words that indicate concepts. For me, they are concepts of change. Change is good. Change is healthy. Change brings a better future. We are all teachers, every moment of every day, our actions, decisions, and thoughts affect the person beside us. May we teach each other with respect and empathy so that change can truly be seen. |
