About me

Introduction	I'm currently working on an ESRC-funded fellowship. Its main objectives are to acquire familiarity with and understanding of: (i) the design and use of quantitative and administrative data that have underpinned analysis of literacy attainment in English schools in two specific historical periods, 1860-90 and the 1950s; (ii) the design and use of quantitative and administrative data that currently inform comparative analysis of literacy attainment internationally, with specific reference to PISA data collected and analysed by the OECD (iii) how these data arise in their institutional and historic contexts, and are analysed and understood as part of public and professional discourse (iv) whether historical and comparative analysis can throw light on contemporary issues in literacy policy, with particular reference to gender and attainment.
