| Introduction | I'm nearly an empty nester with 2 kids in college and one already on her own. My family is vitally important to me and we love to get together when possible. I've been sewing since my mother put me in 4H at age 9 (because we couldn't tolerate her teaching me herself!). She sewed, her mother sewed, her mother sewed, etc. My mother learned particularly from my great Aunt Helen who was a Home Ec teacher, eventually in Anaheim, CA. I prefer sewing garments but have dabbled in quilts for each of my children's high school graduations. I'm toying with the idea of art quilts, but haven't made the leap yet. I have a healthy stash, stored in several rooms. A sewing room from a converted front porch. And I've kind of taken over the dining room table for cutting. I would have liked living in the Renaissance (if I was a man) because learning new things was so valued and I'm always curious. I'm an Ohio State Buckeye alumni, with ... wait for it ... a degree in French. Yes, it seemed like a good idea when I was 20, despite the landlocked nature of Ohio. I love to travel and you may see some evidence here! |
