Introduction Hi! My husband gave me the name Blondie a long time ago & it has stuck! I am a Midwestern girl but I now live in a quiet & beautiful neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. I adore my husband and four children, two boys, two girls. I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, antiquing, decorating and needlework crafts. I love decorating in a cottage sort of style but it's fun to mix it up a little!. I currently work writing columns for two newspapers. I love creating essays about life in the city and country. And I've enjoyed blogging about the same for 9 years! We have a year round home in the country on a huge lake in Southwest Michigan where I am always busy renovating, decorating, cooking, entertaining & relaxing! We also have a little place in the mountains of North Carolina. Life is good! I hope you will follow along on my adventures!
Interests Gardening, decorating, reading, shopping, shopping (did I say that already?), hanging out with my kids and dogs (not necessarily in that order, alone time with my wonderful husband, visiting, working or staying downtown (Chicago), being up at my lake house, long walks, water sports, traveling, antiquing, gourmet cooking, basic baking, writing old fashioned letters instead of emails, trying new restaurants, adding new interests to my interests.
Favorite Movies Under the Tuscan Sun, Rear Window, Falling in Love, The Lion King, Easter Parade, Love Actually, Moulin Rouge, Sophie's Choice, Jerry Maguire
Favorite Music Love the Top 40's---sort of embarrassing but you can usually hear me belting out songs along with the radio in my car. Also love music I grew up with; Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, James Taylor, The Eagles...the list goes on.
Favorite Books Eat Pray Love, Pippi in the South Seas, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Jane Eyre, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's Magic, Secret Garden, Irish Girls About Town, The Merry Recluse...just too any to mention and the list grows. I really love decorating, gardening and cookbooks. Magazines satisfy my yearning for a quick fix of information. :)
