Introduction LA Valley dweller, by way of Manhattan, by way of San Francisco, by way of Virginia, by way of...
Interests Parenting my new cat-spawn Jack and Chloe, exploring the vastness of LA (I'm resigned to the fact that I'm expanding my carbon footprint - though I do bike to work!), spirituality, the beach at sunset, running, my iPod filled with '80s music, playing Uncle to my rockin' niece and nephew, old superhero comics, politics, the environment, dancing, laughing, and unsweetened Green Tea Lemonades (aka GTLs) from Starbucks.
Favorite Movies Movies: as each year goes by, Hollywood makes less and less films that I want to see. My only recent faves are Once and Before Sunset. Older faves... Blade Runner, Alien/s, Matrix, Copycat, Ghost, X-men, Ordinary People, Terms of Endearment, Romy and Michele, Central Station, Waiting for Guffman, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Thelma and Louise, Glory, Airplane. TV: All-time top 4 (can't narrow it down further): China Beach, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Knots Landing, Sex and the City. Current Top 4: Amazing Race, Battlestar Galactica, Friday Night Lights, Mad Men. I was also riveted to The View w/Rosie all last season. I didn't agree with everything she said, but I love how she brought up substantial topics for passionate debate. Love you, Whoopi, but it's not the same. Radio: I listen daily to Stephanie Miller's hysterical podcast. You must check her out at
Favorite Music Overall, you could definitely call me a "Billboard 100" dude... but mainly all things '80s!!! I consider myself blessed to have grown up during such an awesome decade of big hair, synthesizers, and air guitar. The tunes still hold up - even the 1-hit wonders! Beyond that fabulous timeframe, there's some great '70s songs and a smattering of gems from the '90s and now. I keep track of what's current, but don't connect to much of it. My friend Anil pointed out a recent #1 song with the title "Buy You a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" and I just felt way too old.
Favorite Books I don't read many books, much to my friend Travis' chagrin. But like the rest of the universe, I devoured the last Harry Potter. My big accomplishment of 2006 was reading all 3 Lord of the Rings, which were amazing. I also loved Running w/Scissors and Dry by Augusten Burroughs.
