| Introduction | now ret(w)ired. Spent 15 years at Rolls-Royce, Derby learning to design and stress big fan engines. 6 years teaching how to design big fan engines. On a team that introduced CAD to the campus curricula. Left to help people exploit CAD technology; managed a Design and Development activity. Spent 15 years leading a team an an fmcg company tasked with exploiting computer-based design technologies to improve the packaging design and implementation process- locally, regionally and finally globally. Now looking at how we use the construction of early aircraft and engines as a means to teach young people about the excitement and discipline of skilled work, enabling them to demonstrate thay can do "work worth paying for" which leads to offers of employment. |
