About me

Introduction David is the founder and director of Canadian River Art. He is the former Executive Director of Taos Historic Museums (the Ernest Blumenschein Home and Museum, the Hacienda de los Martinez, and the Southwest Research Center of Northern New Mexico). At Taos, David and his staff managed and displayed the works of the founders of the Taos Society of Artists, in addition to thousands of artifacts from Taos Pueblo and New Mexico. While there, David served on the board of the Museum Association of Taos. David has also served as Director of the Metcalfe Museum and has worked on projects for the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum, Powers Museum, George Washington Carver National Monument, and the Oklahoma Arts Council. He also served as Chairman of the Historic Preservation and Design Committee of Main Street Joplin (Missouri), co-produced a three-part documentary for Ozarks Public Television, published a number of regional history books, and was a major contributing writer for the two-volume "Encyclopedia of African American Society," edited by Gerald Jaynes, Ph.d, Yale). David holds a Master's in History from Missouri State University.
