Introduction Stu’s work is built on a foundation of academic training in studio art, design, and illustration. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design with an emphasis in Visual Communications from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Stu recently received his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration from The Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, CT. In his illustrations, Stu uses a variety of mediums to express his ideas. He does extensive professional work with linocut prints, digital tools and mixed media to produce strong graphic images while maintaining a sense of warmth and charm. His work has been published in the U.S. and internationally. Stu has studied under renowned illustrators such as Murray Tinkelman, Garry Kelley, and C.F. Payne. Besides being a practicing artist, Stu has been an educator passing on his artistic knowledge and skills to students. He has taught illustration, design, drawing, and painting and was the instructor for the Certificate in Illustration program at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Currently, Stu teaches secondary art and is a part time instructor at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC.
