| Introduction | My father passed away on June 29, 2012. I was 24 then. It was a life changing day for me...a sure kick in the ass. My father was always a hard-worker but he enjoyed life. Before he passed away he demanded "Son, take care of your mother." Now, I knew I could handle the emotional task that his request required, but not the financial responsibilities. I wasn't a saver. Student loans were up the 'ying-yang'. Collection agents were ringing constantly already - now this. How the hell could I confidently say "You got it,Pop!"? But...I did. As confident and proud as I was that day to make my father content...I knew I had to set a plan and prioritize my goals. I needed to take responsibility for myself and now family. So I embarked on this goal-setting exercise to make everything fall into place. I laid out my goals on a worksheet and took it from there. I listed my long-term goals, short-term goals and immediate goals which I believed will all lead me to financial, educational, health, spiritual and overall success. |
