| Introduction | A Post graduate level student in literature,I personally believe that Literature should have a didactic tone.Modern man in his mad pursuit of happiness has lost sight of values and I do feel that Literature can bring back him to his senses.In this regard,I have the moral backing of Dr Samuel Johnson,the literary dictator of seventeenth century who never hesitated to call a spade a spade. Thus Literature has the dual purpose of delighting and enlightening people..failure of any can be assessed as the very failure of Literature itself. |
