Introduction Andrew Kay has been studying and performing alto saxophone for the past 9 years. Andrew attended the Humber College Community School and started studying under the likes of Toronto jazz musicians; Pat Wheeler, Dave Niell, Alex Dean, and Kirk MacDonald. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Jonathan, and his Uncle Alistair Kay, Andrew attended Humber College in the Jazz Degree Program. Over the past 4 years at Humber, he has performed with some of the school's top emsembles along with Jazz legends David Liebman, Dave Douglas, Kurt Elling, Dave Grusin. After travelling to India in the summer of 2006 to study Classical Hindustani music, Andrew returned to Humber and started the World Jazz Lab along with Ted Quinlan, Ravi Naimpally, and Justin Gray. Andrew finished his time at Humber playing Lead Alto in the Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble. Along with Jonathan and Justin, Andrew founded the band Monsoon, presenting a new fusion of Indian and Jazz styles on the Toronto Jazz scene.
