| Introduction | As of June 29, 2011 I have begun a new journey in my life. Yes, after living in Utah for the past 31 years, I have finally traded my snow boots and sweaters for flip flops and tank tops…I moved to Maui. Looking back, I had set this intention long ago. I have said many times “I was meant to live in a warm, tropical location” while having a conversation with someone and complaining about how cold I was. About 5 years ago I started making a lifestyle change that has evolved into a passion for Health and Wellness. The changes I’ve made through healthy eating and exercise have changed my life and set me on a new path. I feel better now than I did in my 20’s. Once I started making changes and seeing results it was like a snowball effect, I wanted to learn more about nutrition and health. I have done a lot of research and experimenting and learned a lot over the years. I feel a calling to share this information with others so they can improve their health to whatever level they desire. I will be starting a course with The Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become certified as a Holistic Health Coach…..A new chapter begins for me! |
| Interests | Maintaining optimal health: mind, body, spirit. What I do for fun: Yoga, biking, running, snorkeling, swimming (I'm learning the crawl and how to breathe correctly), hiking, reading about nutrition or fitness, enjoying the sunshine fresh air and the company of my friends family and loved ones! |
| Favorite movies | Food Inc. (A must see for everyone)http://www.foodincmovie.com/, Food Matters http://www.foodmatters.tv/atters |
| Favorite music | I love Pandora. Some of my favorite stations lately are Norah Jones, Slack Key by the Sea (Hawaiin guitar), Spa radio, Frank Sinatra, Jim Brickman and some classical stuff. |
| Favorite books | Thrive- The Vegan Nutrition Guide and Thrive Fitness, both by Brendan Brazier. He is a professional Iron Man Tri-athlete. These books are awesome for understanding how both fitness and nutrition can raise the quality of your life in all aspects. China Study by T. Colin Campbell- the best research book I've read on how nutrition so profoundly affects your health. Eat to Live or Eat for Health by Dr. Joel Fuhrmann- A foundational book on Reversing and Preventing disease through the basic concept of nutrition with Whole Foods. Engine 2 diet by Rip Esselstyn- He's a fireman and a triathelete that challenged his coworkers to follow a 28 day challenge to improve their health (weight, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar levels) the concept is Plant Strong, no sugars, oils and low sodium. The results are awesome- anyone can do this! |
