Introduction Canadian by birth (now a US citizen), I was a pastor 14 years, and have taught church history and theology 17 years (at Covenant College since '97). I met my wife, Jane, while at WTS (Phila.); we have 4 grown children. Books in print: 1)_Restoring the Reformation_(Paternoster, 2006) investigates the era after Napoleon in which U.K. and U.S. evangelicals aided Francophone Europe's spiritual resurgence. It revises (downward)the role of 'hero' claimed for the Scot, Robert Haldane. 2)With Michael Haykin of SBTS, I edited and contributed to _The Emergence / Advent of Evangelicalism_(IVP-UK and B&H,2008);this examines the view popularized since 1989 by D.W. Bebbington that 'Evangelical Religion' only came to exist after 1730 because of the Great Awakening / Evangelical Revival. It shows that Evangelicalism's roots reach back into the Reformation era. 3)In Feb. 2011, IVP published my book _Ten Myths About Calvinism_. This highlights 4 misconceptions Calvinists regularly spread about the Reformed tradition and 6 wrong judgments regularly repeated by their critics.
