Introduction I am a retired lawyer and judge from West Texas. I spent 30 years as a District Judge in Texas, and before that was a prosecutor for 8 years. Nothing I say on this blog is intended to be legal advice nor an indication of how I might rule in any case that might come before a court to which I am assigned. Nothing in this blog should be construed as an endorsement of any political candidate for any office. In this blog I intend to discuss matters of my interest. Comments are encouraged, but foul language or ad hominem attacks will not be permitted. Anything posted is intended to provoke a civil discussion. I will mostly post about politics, foreign affairs, the military, and sometimes about retirement and related issues. Politically, I started out as a Democrat, and was elected to office as one in the 1960s. I switched to the Republican Party in 1979. I was elected to office 5 times as a Republican, but have now retired. I would call myself an independent now, although I usually still vote Republican. Put me down as somewhat right of center. Welcome to the blog.
