IntroductionI graduated from Sussex University obtaining both my BSc and DPhil there and then spent 2 years at Leicester University as a post-doctoral fellow with Professor M.C.R.Symons FRS. I was appointed to a "new-blood" lectureship in Chemistry at Queen Mary and Westfield College, London University, and then moved to LJMU as Research Professor (Full) in Chemistry in my early 30s. I was awarded a Higher Doctorate (D.Sc) by the University of Sussex. I next became Director of the consultancy, Fresh-lands Environmental Actions, which deals with various energy and environment issues. I have published over 260 peer reviewed articles, which have received 24,000+ citations, along with 7 books, and am ranked by Stanford University as being in the top 0.01% of World Scientists. I have given invited lectures at many international conferences and university departments around the world, radio and televised interviews and popular science venues e.g.Cafe Scientifique. I have been elected to Fellowships of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), the Linnean Society of London (FLS) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). I am Chair of Transition Town Reading, and a Board Member of Scientists Warning Europe.
