Introduction	I am an oceanographer who brings my scientific training to analyzing the issues of the day. The son of a history professor and an elementary school teacher, as well as a Gen-X’er, I also bring a generalist’s eye for linkages across ideas, countries, religions and dogmas. I’m an unreformed Liberal – which is a voice I find lacking in current American commentary. Reading my commentary here means you get a no holds barred writing style, a liberal viewpoint, and someone who is hungry to break out of the pack.
