Introduction On April 3, 1976, I was giving birth to my second daughter. My then-husband and his family were busy moving our things into our new home in Deerpath. After we got settled in, we'd often take Sunday drives in the area where residential subdivisions were booming. I was in search of designer decorating ideas. One of the communities we visited was called “Independence Square” and the model I liked was “The Concord.” Completely done in grey (walls, carpet and tile), one bold accent color was chosen to separate and give identity to each room (bright yellow in the living room, bold red in one of the bedrooms, bright blue in another), yet the flow of gray gave consistency throughout. That stuck with me. What I never imagined walking through that model home was I’d have a major life-change, and twenty years later I'd be moving into that exact home. I've always been disappointed that the history of the subdivision was lost over the years, as it was quite unique. Area-wide it was celebrated by the media as a new way forward in how contemporary housing would be built, marketed and lived in. So I've created this blog to bring back history. I hope you find it informative!
