Introduction | I began birding in the summer of 2004 when my father-in-law, Lynn Davenport, handed me a pair of binoculars to go on a Sunday afternoon walk at Lake Lowell (Deer Flat NWR). It was an instant addiction. Married to Jessica since 1999, we have four children. I served an LDS Mission in Rosario, Argentina and still speak Spanish fairly fluently. Unfortunately I was not yet a birder and missed all those great South American species. I even lived in South Carolina before-birder. We lived in Mesa, Arizona for four years which is a pretty nice place to live when getting into birding. I grew up in Nampa, Idaho and graduated from Nampa High. I received a Construction Management degree in 2002 from Brigham Young University with a minor in Management. Now I wish I had taken an ornithology elective too. A well-rounded nerd, my other interests include religion, college football (BYU and BSU), history, politics, reading, family history, and music. I play clarinet and tenor sax and enjoy singing too. |
Interests | I enjoy birding, camping, following college football, playing tenor sax and clarinet, reading history, water-skiing, studying scripture, white-water rafting, discussing politics, hiking, watching TV. I am a self-described "well-rounded nerd". A Renaissance Man, if you will. Most importantly...I love spending time with my wife and four kids. |
