Introduction As I stare at the incandescent hue in the form of a little white box that has materialized on my computer screen, and that is asking me to describe myself I am instantly tempted to dash off - eighteen, college student, writer, English major, history major, daughter, granddaughter, friend. But, then I recall the quote from Eat Pray Love, and how Julia Robert's character makes the same mistake. When asked the word she would use to describe herself she informs her company, "my word’s 'writer.'" Her one companion cleverly responds, "Yeah, but that’s what you do. That isn’t who you are, no?" And although until recently, like Julia Robert's character I have considered myself "a woman in search of her word," I like to regard myself as blissful, considerate, empathetic, genuine, passionate.

You've got to make contact with the alien leader. How will you tell when the conversation is finished?

Hm, perhaps when we sit down over a nice cup of coffee.
