Introduction I am a recent seminary graduate, earning my Master of Divinity this past May. Before entering seminary, I taught high school journalism and photography concurrently with advising the school’s yearbook and newspaper (yes I have the patience of a saint). I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education. I recently completed a Chaplain Residency program, and currently work as a per diem chaplain. I love teaching, worship, community outreach, ecumenical endeavors, interfaith dialog, and social justice. What really makes me tick though is the desire to learn, grow and interact. I love photography (I even taught B/W development in the darkroom for many years) and travel, movies, etc. I love words and putting together words, the art of writing. And, last but not least, I am the owner of the most beautiful dog in the world. Not that I'm partial or anything.
Interests See the About Me section for general interests. For the sections below, I wrote either the most unique, most embarrassing (I'll only share with y'all), or my first memory in the movies and music categories.
Favorite Movies I love all kinds of movies...I was a Journalism major in college and studying film was a very, very beloved existence. So, on that note...I remember my first movie was seen in a "drive in" in the back of a station wagon. It was the one and only Jungle Book. I was pretty small. The second one I remember is Sleeping Beauty and making my mom sit through two showings of it. Third childhood movie memory is walking to the Saturday movie kids matinee and seeing Born Free. Most embarrassing favorite movie, but it's true, is Jeremiah Johnson and Father was a Fullback. My most embarrassing favorite movie genre is campy 60s movies, like in the realm of Marriage on the Rocks and Sex and the Single Girl. :-). Don't hold any of that against me :-).
Favorite Music Love all kinds of music but sticking with the most unique and childhood theme...Favorite and most embarrassing artist growing up (and even still) is Burt Bacharach. Oh yeah and the Fifth Dimension. Ha! Yes, I was born in the 60s. We have no secrets now. I loved early America albums as a kid too. I remember thinking the album cover for Horse with No Name with the three Indians was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Oh yeah, and I secretly loved Led Zeppelin in elementary school. Keep the secret safe :-).
Favorite Books I'm an avid reader and a studier and teacher of literature and poetry. I love so many different types of books....Shakespeare, the Odyssey, contemporary writers, and on and on and on...But the one book I keep on coming back to is a book titled, So The Woman Went Her Way by Lynne Bundesen. The story echoes my own in many ways. It's the story of a woman who runs away to save her life very young and ends up not only surviving but studying God and people through photography and Journalism. In the book she reflects how the women of the Bible reflect her life, and ultimately as I read it, mine too.
