Introduction	"It takes a village to raise a child." -African Proverb-
Interests	The biological parents of this young child abused substances and would breathe smoke into the child's mouth in order for the child to stop crying. When the child was approxpriately two years old, the child was found in the middle of the street disoriented with nothing but a diaper on. Even though the grandmother received custody of the child, there are still residual effects from the environmental conditions. Behavioral concerns appeared when the child entered preschool. The story of this child really touched my heart because it reminds me that some children come from very challenging home situations. Those children may need extra guidance and love by providing a structured predictable learning environment. As a future preschool educator, I am reminded that each child has a unique background and what they may need most is to see that someone loves them.
