Introduction professional singer/ songwriter/ recorded 10 cds for SIRE, Antone's, Rounder and RUF records. My newest cd is called Sister Vagabond and will be released August 15 on the Delta Groove label. My music is also available at Itunes and Amazon.com . I use my songwriting and music to inspire others to live their dreams and accept themselves. I had pancreatic cancer and had the whipple procedure in april 2008. I am feeling great and grateful for every moment I have on this planet.I grew up in East Los Angeles and was a mother at 17. I became a sex worker to get off welfare, became financially emancipated and financed my musical aspirations. My eldest son is a professional drummer. My youngest son is a jazz piano/education major/ senior at UC Berkeley. I raised both of my kids in an environment where they could play music and be creative. I believe the key to happiness is to accept yourself, learn to love your physical body and forge ahead with your dreams, no matter what. I am wrote a memoir about my life called the Toughest Girl Alive which was adapted to the stage in Jan 2010 at the Moxie Theater. It will also be in the New York Fringe Festival this summer.
