Introduction I am a clinical psychologist and stress physiologist in private practice, Passionate about helping people to explore their life story and assisting the awakening of themselves up to life again. Additionally, my PhD on "The impact of early life stress on the endocrine and immune systems." in Physiology has again highlighted the importance of good enough early maternal care on our biology. I also work full-time as a lecturer and mentor to 2nd year physiology students in medicine and the allied medical disciplines. I am passionate about teaching and ensuring that the 2nd year B.Sc Nurses (traditionally the most disadvantaged students with the lowest entrance requirements) are empowered to pass this very difficult topic (they write the same tests and exams as the medical students). In the last 5 years, under my tutelage, the pass rate for B.Sc Nurses in the 2nd year physiology course has improved from a dismal 5% to above 80%. Contact: deem01.co.za
Interests In my soul I am a wild woman, learning and yearning to live my life with passion and fire. However, passion requires that we experience and own our childlike passions and the hidden and dark aspects of ourselves such as our sadness, rage, hate and fear. I believe that until we open up and air out the room in our hearts that is filled with the skeletons of our lives and emotions we cannot love and live fully. We cannot open our arms to embrace others if we are using them to hold back a tide of emotion that we deem to be negative and not quite nice.
Favorite Music 60's Pop, classic rock and roll, some classical music - such as Czardas from Delibes'COPPÉLIA and Beethoven's symphony No.5 - love the interplay between high and low notes - wonderful to see how a ballerina interprets Delibes music.
Favorite Books Women who run with Wolves, Shantaram, The Red Book, Medical Journals, Medical books, psychology - especially Melanie Klein, Freud, and most other analysts.
