| Introduction | I am a Ph.D. sociologist(B.A., Stanford University, Ph.D., UC Berkeley) and certified business coach. I live with my wife Deborah in Ashland, OR.. I have three grown sons and a growing number of grand children. I started this blog in order to share a lot of content I have collected over the years on the subject of reluctance. Formerly shy, my mission is to help people overcome their fears and doubts so that they can lead more fulfilling lives. Perhaps my most central interest is in achieving self discipline or sufficient self management so that difficult personal challenges can be achieved. I have had a variety of experiences in overcoming inner barriers that were preventing me from achieving valued goals. I’m thinking here of smoking cessation, weight loss, mastering writer’s block and then overcoming cold call avoidance.
