IntroductionAs a little girl I was often caught playing in my mother's jewelry box. The years have passed but not my love of jewelry. The passion is a legacy from my grandmother, who adored gifts in "little boxes". Many childhood summers were spent together examining the treasures in her jewelry box. It was the inheritance of her costume jewelry collection that inspired me to take my first jewelry making class. After which I repaired and remade much of her beloved collection and shared the keepsakes with all of her daughters, granddaughters and even great great granddaughters. I guess the reality is that I have a life long love of jewelry and have been playing in jewelry boxes most my life. This inspiration has taken me on an exciting journey in the world of jewelry design and fabrication that has been in progress for some years now. From my beginnings as a folk artist I have embraced many arts and crafts over the years, but the passion I've found in jewelry making started the first time I opened the lid of my mother's jewelry box.

Your people want to make a statue in your honor. What will it be made out of and what victory will it commemorate?

Copper and lots of pretty found objects from the jewelry boxes and sewing baskets of all the great women I've known. It would commemorate the accomplishment of a baby-boomer who has reached AARP status with my mind and most all of the parts I came into the world with still in good working order. Seniors Rock!
