| Introduction | We are the Palapag Culture and Arts Guild (PAPATAG) Inc., an organization of individual artists and non-artists who are committed to the promotion of culture and artistry in the town of Palapag in Northern Samar. PAPATAG is duly registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)and is so far the only community-based non-government cultural organization in Palapag today. The acronym "PAPATAG" is a pre-Spanish name of Palapag, the oldest town in the province, which boasts of rich culture, heritage and tradition. |
| Interests | OUR OBJECTIVES: 1. Promotion of native and folk culture; 2. Strengthening unity among local cultural groups and individuals by eliminating unhealthy competition and rivalry; 3. Enrichment of the artistic resources, styles, techniques, media and forms for a more potent art and culture; 4. Propagation of culture as the principal agent of the formation of values and humanization of society; and 5. Transformation of the backward content of traditional and popular culture into a progressive one. OUR MISSION: 1. Promotion of the social orientation of folk culture. 2. Revival of native cultural art forms through in-depth study and research. 3. Promotion of a scientific, people-oriented, non-sexist, liberating, and progressive culture. |
