|Favorite Books||I have a new-found author---Daniel Woodrell, whose words captivated me from the very first page of WINTER'S BONE, and whose phrasings and imagery are the absolute best I've ever read---by anyone. Stark and spare and harsh, or scented with Ozark wildflowers, his books are magical creatures, with a crafting and a read I can't describe. I'm hunting up every book he's ever written, And since then, there have been the GRRMartin books--GAME OF THRONES, captivating and enthralling as a magic spell. The REACHER books---I was a little put off by the clipped, terse sentences---for about ten pages. Then I was so immersed in that headlong plunge and ride that I didn't come up for air til I'd devoured all eighteen. New one coming in September! And of course, the old faithful favorites:, Poirot, Miss Marple, Jane Austen, EQMM, AHMM, Sherlock Holmes, Agnes Sligh Turnbull, Zenna Henderson, To Kill A Mockingbird, James Lee Burke, Gladys Taber, Harry Potter, Piers Anthony's Xanth, Mma Ramotswe, Trollope, Ann Rule, Nancy Drew, Maida Books, Fried Green Tomatoes, Florence King, Dean Koontz' Watchers, M.F.K. Do you ever wonder what was Little Red Riding Hood's name before she got that coat? Or when a werewolf changes back into a man, does the hair fall off or suck back in?
