Introduction | WHAT IS CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION? Here's an academic version (a real-life version soon to come in a post): Conflict Transformation is a creative process of nonviolent response to intense interpersonal/intergroup disagreement that promotes lasting and holistic justice and peace. This process develops mutual understanding between the involved parties. The foundation of this understanding is recognition of human dignity and participation in truth-telling. True peace is holistic: it involves an individual’s spirit, mind and body and a community’s spirit, purpose, and organization. Conflict transformation is an under-used alternative to the dominant pattern of violent problem solving. The practitioner of conflict transformation operates without imposing herself on the disputing parties. She models and facilitates good communication, enables with skills training, and empowers with outside support and resources. |
