Introduction When I first moved to France I recall thinking how many things people did on the train: On a train eating, on a train on the phone, on a train reading. "En train de..." is a type of present progressive in French: You are in the midst of making the action. For example 'Je suis en train de lire..." basically means " I am reading..." Frankly it was a bit of a disappointment to learn that not all of these things were taking place on a train.
